Members of Ardal Aberystwyth Rotary Club were celebrating last month at their first official meeting as a recognised Rotary Club, having received their Charter from Rotary International. Ardal Aberystwyth also hosted their Charter Lunch on March 13th – raising an amazing £270 with the raffle to go towards the Ukraine crisis.

Displaying the official charter with pride, Llywydd (President) Kerry Ferguson said: “I’m really chuffed to be the first Llywydd to hold the Charter on behalf of Ardal Aberystwyth Rotary Club, and to be a part of this new club here in Aberystwyth. Community is so important, now more than ever, and we can each play a part in building up and supporting our local communities one way or another. I’m honoured to be here as the first Llywydd, and I’m very excited to see what our first year as a charted Rotary Club is going to look like.”

Ardal Aberystwyth has already made its mark in Aberystwyth by supporting many events in 2021 including Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life, the Aberystwyth Roundtable’s fireworks display, two Aberystwyth Farmer’s Markets and Menter Aberystwyth’s Christmas parade and light switch on.

2022 is set to be another busy year for the Club with plans in place to support community groups, raise much needed funds for local and national charities and to once again support local events when extra manpower is needed.  Running alongside all their good works, their social calendar ensures that their two main objectives of service and fellowship are fulfilled.
